Day 10 - Trip of a Lifetime

  Day 10 Welp... this is it....Final thoughts! Thank you so much for the great reception back from our adventure! Your outpouring of love and smiling faces made it extra special. So you know by now, we woke up Tuesday morning in Madrid with a 7:30 a.m. wakeup call. We headed to the airport smoothly and checked all of our luggage without a hitch. Saying goodbye to Daniele was much more difficult. As we parted ways, all 18 of our kiddos surrounded him in a giant bear hug as they chanted his name. Boy, it got awfully dusty in there! He is definitely one of a kind. He put up with our nonsense and poured his love of language and culture into your kids! As for the adults, we appreciated the trust, kindness, patience, and the laughter! We hope to see him again someday! We spent our last remaining Euros on the essential snacks and loaded up the flight to Montreal. It was a long 7 hours of sitting, but we all made it. Between the like 5 passport checks (for real), customs, and bathroom stop...

Day 9 - We cooked!

  Day 9 We started our last day on the trip with a relaxing breakfast in the hotel. It was a good spread with all of the traditional European options. Kids seemed to fill up after a good night's sleep. We met at 9:15 to head out for the day. It was actually 9:17 because we had our usual late crew. Can you guess which kids (there are 4) have kind of been late to every meet-up time? Now we are just giving them a little buffer. We jumped on the metro in the city center of Madrid to Ventas, a few stops away, to begin our first adventure of the day. One thing I will no longer take for granted in the US… space. Space between buildings, open space to walk through and enjoy, and personal space. I mean on the metro its a bunch of strangers standing butt to butt and when you think there is no room, here jumps in another. Space…enjoy it.
